No One Expects the Spanish Inquisition on Saturday!

Deadline has some casting info for HBO.
Also cast in a recurring role on an HBO series is Peter Macdissi who is joining the vampire drama True Blood. He will play Luis PatiƱo, a vampire sheriff in Louisiana, who harbors a troubled past with ties to the Spanish Inquisition, torture, and the witches that are settling in Bon Temps.Deadline.com

I think I see the noob at about the 1 minute mark in the video below, chowing down in a dirty alleyway with garbage bags around (a running theme this season?)
Much clearer copy of the new promo from HBO's Youtube page. Crystal sure seems to be biting Jason, judging by her bloody mouth and face. Look at Portia Bellefleur, all smiles at the ribbon cutting ceremony, very different demeanor from book Portia. That white make-up isnt doing Jessica Tuck (Nan) any favors. Exfoliate and moisturize girl, you are an ageless vamp (a little filler too).

I don't know if the Inside True Blood Blog is clueing us in that the character's are DUN or it's just a little something to fill in till the show starts.  I love Alfre Woodard in anything, even as a crazy mean woman, so I hope she is in next season.

Remembering Season 3: Ruby Jean

By Gianna Sobol
"The stuff with Lafayette's mother, Ruby Jean, in the mental ward - that was one of those scenes that's hard to shake off after writing it. I feel protective of our characters after all these years, and a part of me didn't want Lafayette to have to hear these things from his own mother... even just typing them made me want to shower.  But I love that arc because we walk away with a deeper understanding of who Lafayette is, what motivates him... how and why he became the fabulous creature he is now... and in a way, what a miracle it is that  he survived all that with as much sanity as he has.   It's exciting that 3 years into the show we  still find opportunities to dig deeper and reveal new facets of these characters.  And that's what excites me most about True Blood -  beneath the fangs and bloody pecs, the show is really all about character." - Raelle Tucker

Tuesday Suits Bill

More video from on the set by the Wonder Women @ CINEMATIC DEBRIS
Bill looks more and more like he is a bigwig in the vamp world after exposing or however he did away with Sophie Anne. AVL exec? Photos of the gals with new cast members at the source.

SEMI-SPOLIER ALERT!!!!
They are shooting indoors today and it’s a ballroom scene. I noticed balloons in the shape of fangs and other balloons in the shape of letters that spelled “Tolerance.” There were also red, white and blue flags and a band playing with a chick singer. Some of the extras were wearing blue t-shirts that read: “Just say no to hate.” There were men with guns in all black that resembled a SWAT team. Vampire Bill was dressed in suits, Eric was wearing a bloody shirt and Sookie was in a zippered sweatshirt and jeans.

Joe loves to let us know he doesn't wear much on the show. We know Joe, we know.

'True Blood' Star Joe Manganiello Talks Season 4 Shirtlessness (Lots Of It!)
Posted 5/16/11 11:00 am ET by Amy Wilkinson in TV News, Videos
If it wasn't evident from the recently released "True Blood" season four trailer, we will be seeing a lot of bare-chested manmeat when the HBO series returns June 26. In fact, when we caught up with star Joe Manganiello recently, he gave us the lowdown on just how much pec-tasticness we can expect from his wolfie character Alcide Herveaux.

"Well, I think I'm shirtless or naked three out of seven [episodes] we've done," Joe said with a grin. "So if we talked in baseball terms, three out of seven is like Hall of Fame numbers."
That is one Hall of Fame we'd certainly visit (over and over again). But while Joe was forthcoming about his nudie numbers, he was a bit more coy about specifics plot points from the upcoming season when we asked for scoop.

"I mean, witches, nudity and murders, blood and guts—all kinds of good fun stuff," he said vaguely.

Oh, come on, Joe! What a tease! I guess we'll just have to tune in June 26 for all the dramatic (and shirtless) goodness.

Summer's End

Melissa Rauch (and her tasty biscuits) brought some flavor to Season 3 of True Blood
By Gianna Sobol

A few quick words with an old friend, Melissa Rauch, regarding her character Summer, her experience shooting True Blood, and those notorious biscuits…

Gianna: So apparently your biscuits are famous?

Melissa: I'm really flattered, but in fairness, I can't take credit for my biscuits. They did extensive character research and poured over endless footage of Pillsbury commercials and Paula Deen cooking shows. If you want to do this interview with my biscuits alone, I totally understand...

Gianna: What was it like working with Jim Parrack and Ryan Kwanten?

Melissa: I seriously adore those guys. It was such a blast to work with them! They were so warm and welcoming to me. In addition to being extremely talented, much like the rest of the cast, they are unbelievably nice. Oh, wait, my biscuits want to add something...

Biscuits: “Ryan was a great sport as he had to eat a ton of me, but I know he loved it. Jim had one of me after we were done shooting, and I can tell he was really impressed. I'm not surprised... I'm delicious."

Melissa: I'm sorry, but please be aware that I take no responsibility for the over-inflated ego of my biscuits.

Gianna: Any favorite memories from the True Blood set?

Melissa: I seriously loved everything about my time on the True Blood set. One funny memory that comes to mind though, was one morning I was in the hair trailer and I saw a teeny, tiny hairpiece. I said, "That's the cutest hair piece I ever saw. Are they clip-on bangs?" Everyone started laughing. Turns out it was something called a "merkin." It's a hairpiece - but not for your head!

Gianna: Will we be seeing Summer again anytime soon?

Melissa: Hopefully, I would absolutely love it!

Gianna: Team Eric or Team Bill?

Melissa: That's a tough one. I love them both! I'll let my biscuits weigh in... they say they have a strong opinion on the subject:

Biscuits: "I think Sookie should get rid of both of them and fall madly in love with a batch of round, soft, doughy, leavened flour-based goodness often served with butter and jam."
Inside True Blood Blog

Sure sounds like she is done with the show. So did Summer leave that creepy doll as a goodbye prezzie for Hoyt and Jessica or is it something else entirely?  I hope we have a goodbye scene if not with Hoyt then Maxine. Oh that Maxine, she'll be something else this season.

She's Not There Saturday!

By Kevin Fitzpatrick

True Blood Spills Out Season Four Premiere Description!

The episode description for True Blood's fourth season premiere "She's Not There" has found its way to the internet, and our blood is boiling already!

Credit: HBO
True Blood
Is your True Blood pumping for season four? We know how much waiting sucks, so how about a little spill to tide you over until the June 26th premiere?
SpoilerTV with a bit of digging managed to uncover the official description for episode 37, that is to say True Blood's fourth season premiere "She's Not There"!  See for yourself:
"Episode #37
“Sheʼs Not There”: Sookie journeys away from Bon Temps; Eric and Bill try to win back the human public; Jason learns that no good deed goes unpunished; Tara finds refuge in close quarters; Sam bonds with his own; Hoyt and Jessica debate the dinner menu; Jesus urges Lafayette to join a coven; Terry tries to alleviate Arleneʼs fears about the baby. (Written by Alexander Woo; directed by Michael Lehmann.)"
As the episode's title suggests, Sookie  seems to still be in "Fairyland" while Eric and Bill deal with the fallout from King Russell Edgington's actions last season.  But what of Bill's battle with Queen Sophie-Anne?
Meanwhile Jason settles into his role as the caretaker of Hotshot, but as we've already seen, gets into a hairy situation of his own.  And it's a good thing Sam will be "bonding with his own", considering the position we last saw him in firing a gun at his own brother!  And what's this about Hoyt and Jessica debating the dinner menu?  They don't eat the same things.. or do they?
Guest stars for the coming season will include the lovely wife of Brandon Routh, Courtney Ford (Dexter) as Detective Andy Bellefleur's lawyer sister Portia, Fiona Shaw  as the season's witchy fortune-teller and member of Jesus' coven Marnie, Office Space's Gary Cole and possibly even the return of Denis O'Hare as King Russell Edgington.

The Girl with All the Art

Meet the Assistants
By Gianna Sobol

NAME: Stephanie Quick

TITLE: Art Department Assistant

WHAT SHE'S BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK: We have a lot of new non-permanent or 'swing' sets this season. At the moment we're prepping for a large scale location set for which we have to procure a ton of free signage and decoration. It's a lot of calling product placement companies and small businesses and hoping they are fans of the show and want to contribute! Luckily we're working on a hit show so they are usually pretty excited to help out.

I've also been going out to scout some new locations around the L.A. area with our set designer to help him measure up and map out the areas so that he can draw up director's plans and plans for construction.

WEIRDEST THING SHE'S HAD TO DO: Some of the locations we have to measure up for plans are pretty strange, I've gotten to know some parts of L.A. that definitely aren't in any guide books! From run down shacks in Agua Dulce, to pigeon-infested fire escapes Downtown and overgrown Simi Valley backyards, it's definitely never dull. Last week the set designer and I ended up taking measurements in a urine-soaked Hollywood alley.

DREAM JOB: Production Designer
HBO's Inside True Blood Blog

The reason I like these insider posts is they give you hints on what is going on in a particular episode and also it's filler till the show starts. The urine soaked alley way for instance, it  may be the down and out area the spell is cast to disorient anyone approaching  Hallow's den of witches, or the Scooby aka Sookie gang doing some nosing around in search of witchery, even where that gator looks to be in wait from the previous Inside TB Blog. I hope they keep those scenes for spookability. I read the title of Gianna's blog as "Meet the Assassins", geez I'm tired and bored today.

Where is the gator, in a van, a garbage dump? Who is the gator, since we have shifters who knows? It's one way to get rid of a body, or some evidence or an enemy, nom nom, taste like chicken.

'True Blood' Premiere to Feature Zombies Cover by Nick Cave, NekoCase
by Phil Gallo
Nick Cave and Neko Case have recorded a cover of theZombies' "She's Not There" for the debut episode of season four of "True Blood."
Cave and Case, who shared concert bills about a decade ago, were brought together for the season premiere, which is titled "She's Not There." The song closes the episode.
"You always want to serve the show, but in the back of my mind I'm always thinking about the soundtrack," "True Blood" music supervisor Gary Calamar said Wednesday (May 4) at the Musexpo in Hollywood. The Cage and Case track replaces Santana's cover of the tune, which was requested in the script. "The key to a good soundtrack is having fresh recordings."

Craig Campbell’s ‘Family Man’ to Appear in Upcoming Episode of HBO’s ‘True Blood’

We are already wondering what type of scene the song will be used in … perhaps during something that happens between main characters Sookie and Bill? As background music? We’ll just have to tune in to find out, won’t we?
Campbell co-wrote the song, and it will certainly receive a pop culture boost courtesy of its usage in one of the hottest series on premium cable at the moment! ‘True Blood’ airs at 9PM ET on HBO, so kick off the 4th of July festivities by watching this episode of ‘True Blood’ if you’re a Craig Campbell fan. With the strength and sensitive nature of ‘Family Man,’ how could you not be a Campbell fan?
‘Family Man’ is the latest single from Campbell’s self-titled debut album, and it yanks at the heart strings. Meanwhile, Campbell will spend his summer on tour with the legendary Willie Nelson as part of the Country Throwdown Tour.
Noooo, just saw that Kristin said the same as I did on the casting call!

Keck's Exclusives: True Blood Ups the Insanity
by William Keck  from TV GUIDE

As if there were ever any doubt, Bon Temps will establish itself as our nation's most undesirable town to live in when True Blood's fourth season premieres June 26 on HBO. "There's going to be a lot of people not getting along," says Joe Manganiello, who plays hunky werewolf Alcide Herveaux. "The witches are starting trouble with the vampires, and the werewolves, of course, don't like the vampires, either. And the fairies don't like the vampires." Mix in a grotesque meal and a feathery feud, and you have a true recipe from hell. Here are some tidbits to get your blood swirling.

GROSS GRUB
Grab your barf bags! Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and his witchy boyfriend Jesus Velasquez (Kevin Alejandro) will face a culinary challenge straight out of Survivor. "Lafayette and I go on a huge adventure where some unfortunate things happen," Kevin reports. "We end up having a very creepy breakfast with some really interesting people, and Lafayette has a real hard time with it." So what's on the menu? Cagey Kevin tells me the Bayou boys will chow down on one of these three delicacies: a) a cow face, b) a goat tongue or c) poisonous snake venom. "It's going to turn your stomach!"

FOWL PLAY
Shape-shifting brothers Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) and Tommy Mickens (Marshall Allman) will be taking to the skies in a feathery owl versus hawk mid-air chase. The scene required both men to strip down in the middle of the woods on a cold winter night in Los Angeles. "At one point, I had to match the trajectory of a hawk flying up to a trainer on a crane by jumping high and spreading out my arms to fly off," recalls Marshall. He adds that this is only the beginning of the menagerie madness as "Tommy takes shape-shifting to a whole other level with a unique wild-card creature that will prove to be a game-changer in Bon Temps' supernatural power play." Hmmm... Am I hearing the thunderous footsteps of Godzilla?

Second Fan Question Answered...

By Gianna Sobol
Are scenes from more than one episode involving the same character shot on the same day? (Am thinking mostly about where some actors / actresses bulk up or down and how that is managed if scenes from episode 1 and 9 are shot the same day early on, and then other scenes from the same are shot a month or two later).
In short, the answer is: it depends. Not very specific, is it? The schedule is never permanent, things are always changing around. A lot of things factor into the schedule - how much work an episode has, continuity of space, time of day, and other various elements (blood, for example). Sometimes it makes sense to shoot scenes from different episodes on the same day, and sometimes it is no big deal to go back to a location. For instance, the SUPER SECRET PLACE we are at for the end of episode 9, that goes into episode 10, is location sensitive. So we will shoot that all in the same week. If a location is particularly expensive or sensitive, we will cram it all into a day, or as few days as possible. If we own a location or can go back to it, we'll go back. We have Merlotte's built on our sound stages here in Los Angeles, so we can go back there whenever we want, for as little time or as much time as the script calls for. So, like I said, it depends.
It is important to note, however, that we don't have the whole season's worth of scripts at the same time. We rarely shoot from episode 1 and 3 at the same time, because we're just not prepped that far in advance. We could shoot from episodes 1 and 2, or episodes 2 and 3, but never episodes 2 and 5, or even episodes 2 and 4.

A Wee Wednesday Post

What can you tell me about Alcide in the new season of True Blood? — RebeccaADAM: Dude's got a beef with just about everyone. Well, almost everyone. "Alcide doesn't like vampires at all, so you'll definitely see that conflict," Joe Manganiello says. "But he doesn't like werewolves [either].  He does like Sookie." How's that going to sit with Bill and Eric? "His situation gets very complicated very fast," he says.

First Fan Question Answered …
By Gianna Sobol

Will the witches wear pointy hats, have crooked noses and have warts or will they look just like me and you... the average but beautiful Jo?

I talked to Ben Hayes, the writers’ assistant, about this one, because he was in the room when the writers were deciding how to characterize the witches. He said that it was inspired by the characters in the fourth book by Charlaine Harris, but that in bringing Marnie to life, they were trying to create a character that seems real, but slightly "off." The witches in Season 4 all follow that approach and are a range of personalities and looks.

Ben also shared that "as far as the magic goes, there was a good deal of discussion in how to depict it in a visual medium. The writers wanted the magic to suit the stories and nature of the show, but also to meet the needs and opportunities of production. Several different traditions were researched and discussed in order to come up with a unique take on witches, witchcraft and magic in the world of ‘True Blood.’"
HBO's Inside True Blood Blog

Pointed hats and warts? OK, I guess the questioner thought that was good to ask, I hope it was tongue in cheek.
