Bleed Into the New Year

Happy New Year to all you TBC'ers, may next year be all you hope for.
Season 7 begins filming January 7th (double 7's!)  in Los Angeles, it's AWN!
Redeye Chicago has an interview with McMillz- When he first appeared as the vamp-bashing television evangelist Steve Newlin on “True Blood”, Michael McMillian landed a spot in pop culture for himself. As he went on to write comic-books, many based on the hit HBO series, he earned a spot in “geek culture” as well.
He continues to distinguish himself within these areas with his work on “True Blood: Steve Newlin’s Field Guide to Vampires”, a book he co-wrote with Gianna Sobol for HBO and Chronicle Books.
Geek To Me: I’m curious as to where the impetus for you to be involved with writing this book about vampires in the True Blood universe came from?
Michael McMillian: It started a couple years ago actually; I think when I became involved in the True Blood comic book. I’d been writing and co-writing the True Blood comic book series for a couple years, and Gianna Sobol - who was an associate producer on the show - was my story editor for HBO and for the True Blood offices on the comic book, so she and I developed a really good relationship, a working relationship and became friends.
And then you jump ahead to a couple years later, she was pitching out the idea to HBO and Chronicle Books to do a book that was based on the vampire bible that was introduced in Season Five. And I think they got into that and decided that the book was going to be a little too esoteric, and a little dry.
So eventually it evolved into this idea to do a “field guide” to all the vampires and monsters in the True Blood mythology, written through the eyes of Steve Newlin. So when that book was greenlit she asked me if I wanted to come in and co-write it with her. And I jumped at the chance to do it. I thought it would be so fun to write a book in my characters point of view. Not just because he’s so funny, but as an actor it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I can’t imagine another case where I’d be able to do that. [laughs] So it was such a fun project and I loved working with Gianna on it.
G2M: [laughs] I’ve asked Nicholas Brendan about this when it came to his character of Xander on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I’m sure you get asked this a lot, but how much of you do you think is in Steve Newlin?

MM: Oh God, I hope really not a lot [laughs].  Oh boy, I think, like - I d have to say that the character got funnier and goofier as he got along, because that’s kind of who I am on the set and in life. I’m just kind of joking around a lot, I’m a bit of a goofball.
But as far as [laughs] how terrible he is, and how weak he is [laughs] I really hope that’s not how the writers see me. Um, I think that the Season Two Steve as a rule was pretty much mapped out, especially between the books and what they’d written already for Season Two was mapped out before I got to slip into the role.
And I think that when I came back as a vampire they were writing a Steve that was closer to my sensibilities, in terms of humor and my take on the character. And I know that they enjoyed watching me just make a fool out of myself. So I think there was that. I think they were “oh, it’s great to watch Michael look like an idiot, or to be put into these weird submissive positions. So let’s do that.”
And for that I’m honored, it’s such a great character. I find it so much more interesting to play somebody who is not cool, than say a Bill or an Eric [laughs]. You know, it was so fun to play the un-sexy vampire on the show. MORE

Keep up with spoilers here and here.

Ho Ho Ho

Dracula and Santa, as it should be. Bela forever.
Emmy-winning actress Carrie Preston will host the 2014 IAWTV Awards. Preston is most well known for playing Arlene Fowler on HBO’s hit vampire series “True Blood.” She also won an Emmy Award for Best Guest Performance in a Dramatic Series for her turn as Elsbeth Tascioni on CBS’ “The Good Wife.”
More relevantly, though, Preston has a vested interest in the outcome of the 2014 IAWTV Awards. An original web series she directed, “Darwin,” has been nominated for Best New Series.
The IAWTV describes the decision to select Preston as host as being emblematic of a new strategy at the organization — to continue highlighting the best in digital entertainment, by serving both independent content creators as well as traditional media people who decide to venture into online content.
“Carrie represents the best of our industry; telling great stories, making strong connections with audiences, and she has embraced the digital community. It’s a perfect fit,” said IAWTV Chairman, J. Sibley Law, in a statement.
The 2014 IAWTV Awards are scheduled to take place on the night of January 7, 2014, in Las Vegas. You can check out the nominees

From Ausiello- Lafayette’s getting a new boyfriend — and a serious one at that. After spending much of Season 6 in the shadows, Nelsan Ellis will sashay back to the forefront in True Blood‘s final season — with a little help from Drake. Described as a cross between Jim Morrison and James Dean, this brooding and insanely good-looking vamp is a compassionate protector with a poet’s edge. The series-regular role calls for a twentysomething actor who is comfortable performing in simulated (and near-naked) sex scenes with another man.
Seems the description of this new BF for Lala is the same as the casting call for James/Wes from last season, then we see this at TVLine's news- True Blood‘s upcoming seventh and final season has already claimed its first victim. Luke Grimes, who joined the HBO hit in Season 6 as Jessica’s (Deborah Ann Woll) brooding, soulful vamp-camp lover James, has unexpectedly left the series.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Bunheads barkeep Nathan Parsons will step into the series-regular role previously played by Luke Grimes when the HBO hit returns with its seventh and final season this summer.
As we reported last month, Grimes asked to be released from his True Blood contract due to the creative direction of his brooding, soulful, vampire character.
“He initially joined the show because he wanted to work with [his Forever co-star] Deborah Ann Woll,” explained a source close to the actor. “But when he started reading the scripts for Season 7, he was disappointed to learn that they were going in a completely different direction with James.”
According to a True Blood insider, James will find himself at the center of a surprising love triangle in Season 7.
EDIT: as I posted previously Jamsie sounds like Lala's new man, I don't think Jess will go for that and drama will follow or maybe she will be happy for them.
Ausiello has some casting news
[KEITH], a romantic vampire who moonlights (get it?) as a drummer in James’ (Luke Grimes/Nathan Parsons) band and who takes an instant liking to a certain grieving waitress. Riley Smith has been cast as Keith, he is a musician as well as actor so it makes sense.
E3: "Fire in the Hole" July 6th, Written by Brian Buckner, Lee Rose is directing.Sookie (Anna Paquin) hatches a dangerous plan to take down the H-Vamps, even as Vince (Brett Rickaby) and his armed vigilantes pose an equally serious threat. Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) gets high with James (Nathan Parsons); Jason (Ryan Kwanten) eyes a family future with Violet (Karolina Wydra); Willa (Amelia Rose Blaire) is forced to find a new place to stay; Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) sheds her past. Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) offers Eric (Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd) a compelling reason to return to Louisiana – and be the vampire he used to be.” I guess this is where Dr Ludwig fits in.
[PAM'S TREAT] -Ashley Barron cast.
[PAM'S MALE TREAT] she gets a male treat as well, Paul Black is cast.
[VAMP] Lucas Di Medio cast.
[NAYAT]   Arthur Darbinyn is cast.

[HIROKI]   Louis Ozawa Changchien is cast for E3 and E5.
E4: "Death is not the End," July 13. Directed by Gregg Feinberg, written by Daniel Kenneth
“In the aftermath of yet another bloodbath, Sam (Sam Trammell), Sookie and Jason find themselves the bearers of bad news in Bon Temps and beyond. Pam recalls the events that led her and Eric to Shreveport and Fangtasia. Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) get nourishment from unexpected sources. Following a new lead, Sookie enlists a band of vampires and humans to track down the H-Vamps.”
[VICTORIA] Christian Pitre is cast as a vamper.

[DAVE] Bryan Dechart cast.

In search of an elusive adversary, Eric and Pam head to Dallas and attend a gala fundraiser. Andy (Chris Bauer) makes a life-changing decision; Jessica and James reach a crossroads; Bill loses himself in remembrance of human days

[REPUBLICAN PARTY-GOER] Robert Artz cast.

[SCIENTIST LOUIS BODEHOUSE] Brian Patrick Mulligan will return in E5, the scientist character was in "Dead Meat" last season at the VampCamp, didnt know he had our drunkie Jane's last name, hmmm.
[MR GUS] Mr. Gus--he's a Japanese man who has fully embraced the "everything's bigger in Texas" way of living. The only thing bigger than his lavish, southern lifestyle? His quest for revenge, and trust us when we tell you, you do not want to cross him. (He might be involved in the making of True Blood, factory owner?) Eonline. Tvline's  Mr. Gus info- I can tell you that we’re getting what sounds like a new Big Bad in Mr. Gus. Though he’s a Japanese businessman, he’s apparently been so Americanized that he’d make J.R. Ewing seem Asian. (By which we mean he rocks a 10-gallon hat and speaks with a drawl.) Oh, and thanks to a business back-stab, he’s got a thirst for vengeance that’s described as “infinite.” So, while he’ll appear to be middle-aged, I have a hunch he’s immortal.
UPDATE: Will Yun Lee is Mr. Gus, via Deadline
The casting call below seems to fit in with Mr Gus's storyline (UPDATE) some many yakuza are being cast now, as well as the young Republicans)-
Jon Komp Shin ...Yakuza vs. Vampires ...shootin' the rest of the wk. — at The Lot StudiosBackground / Male / Asian / 20 - 45 / -Seeking Union/Non Union Japanese Yakuza with REAL military experience. Must be available April 10th and 11th. Must be fit.

The Week in True Blood

Entertainment One will finally be releasing The Knights Of Badassdom, which stars “Game Of Thrones’” Peter Dinklage, “True Blood’s” Ryan Kwanten, Steve Zahn and Summer Glau on VOD February 11th, 2014. They’re also starting TUGG screenings for the film on January 21st.
Unfortunately it’s not the version of the film that director Joe Lynch (Everly, Wrong Turn 2) intended you to see. I’ve seen this cut – and there’s plenty of good stuff in the first two acts that seems like it’s from him. It goes off the rails a bit at the end and it has a denouement/credits scene that you can pretty much tell is NOT him. There’s even some non-Dinklage ADR for Dinklage’s character. More at Bloody Disgusting.

From Ryan's Facebook.

Another clip from Anna's movie Free Ride, she and Stephen are producers.

Some info on Ryan's next film.
Anna Paquin and her husband Stephen Moyer (in Bill and Sookie outfits) walk arm-in-arm on the set of a Time Warner commercial on Wednesday in Los Angeles. The 31-year-old actress and 44-year-old actor were surrounded by set workers as they prepped to film the television spot. More photos at JJ.
Love Lizzy and happy she is making it in the biz after TB.
Yeah! He's BAAAAACK!

Some WWTW from last week with Alex, the motivator.
From TVGuide- Question: I'm surprised we don't see Carrie Preston (who I love) on The Good Wife more often since she won a guest-actor Emmy for her supporting role. Surely the producers recognize the gem she is. — Vyvyan
Matt Roush: They most certainly do value her. (So do the producers of Person of Interest, on which she also recurs in flashbacks involving Finch, who's played by her off-screen husband Michael Emerson.) What's up is that the very in-demand Preston is under contract to HBO's True Blood, which gets first dibs on her during the time that show is in production, which has limited her availability to The Good Wife and to POI, both of which film in the New York area. Happily (for a number of reasons), this upcoming season of True Blood will be the last, so she'll be free to move on relatively soon.Update! Carrie Preston is filming The Good Wife right now in NYC, she tweeted the pic.
Some more catching up on Joe's book tour stops.

Carrie Preston and Chris Bauer in a new movie, here's the site for it and clips below.
When Melissa, a mild-mannered nurse at a rural methadone clinic, learns that one of her patients is among those who killed her family, she decides against all odds to get even. But as her mental state becomes increasingly fragmented, she has to ask herself -- just who are the good guys and who are the bad guys?
Your Ass is Grass is an inventive and violent psychological thriller in the spirit of Christopher Nolan's Memento, The Coen Brothers' No Country for Old Men, and Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan. A 'smart popcorn movie,' it is an exciting and hallucinatory exercise in small-town

revenge.

Sam Trammell's endured plenty of death and destruction as a shapeshifter on the HBO drama "True Blood," but Bon Temps' most melancholy moments are no match for the sorrow inspired by John Green's best-seller "The Fault in Our Stars." MTV More on the film.

WaWaaaaa, Anna was only in one scene in the next X-Men movie and it done got cut, from Variety. I think they made other characters a bigger deal than they were in the comics, Rogue is popular in them and the TV cartoon (yesh, I am an X-Men fan from way back).

While several castmembers from past installments of the “X-Men” franchise will return to the series next summer in Fox’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” it looks like there is at least one member that will miss the reunion.
In an interview with EW, director Bryan Singer has revealed he had to cut a sequence from the film that contained the only screen time for Anna Paquin’s Rogue character. (The “True Blood” star had only shot a couple days worth of footage).
Singer says in the interview the reason for the cut had to with the film already having so much in it and the sequence ultimately feeling unnecessary. He goes on to add that it probably will be included on the DVD with other deleted scenes.

Joe Manganiello is opening up on his history of alcohol and drug abuse, homelessness and depression and what finally made him decide to “clean up my mess.” “You get to a point where you’re gonna start getting better or you’re gonna kill yourself,”

“I was in so much pain, but I wasn’t willing to end my life.” He recalled Aug. 26, 2002, as the day he finally decided to get clean. “I [knew] I’d hurt myself so badly, but realized I’d also hurt people around me. That’s what made me want to get better,” he said. “But anybody who has ever fought with addiction or knows somebody who’s been in the grips of it, it’s not that easy.” way more at Splash Magazine.

True Blood Season 7 Spoilers Part 2

Continued from Part One.
Lala gets a new LaLover in the final season.  From Ausiello-
Question: Do you have any news on the storylines or new characters of True Blood Season 7? —Tom
Ausiello: Lafayette’s getting a new boyfriend — and a serious one at that. The series-regular role calls for a twentysomething actor who is comfortable performing in simulated (and near-naked) sex scenes with another man in front of the director, assistant director, stage manager, script supervisor, camera operator, first assistant camera, second assistant camera, boom operator, production sound mixer, key grip, best boy grip, gaffer, lighting technician, makeup artist, hairdresser, costume designer, a half-dozen production assistants and Sally with craft services (who shouldn’t be peeking in but probably will be).
TVLine's news- True Blood‘s upcoming seventh and final season has already claimed its first victim. Luke Grimes, who joined the HBO hit in Season 6 as Jessica’s (Deborah Ann Woll) brooding, soulful vamp-camp lover James, has unexpectedly left the series, TVLine has learned exclusively.
When reached for comment, an HBO spokesperson confirmed Grimes’ exit, saying, “The role of James is being recast due to the creative direction of the character.”
Grimes’ rep declined to comment, but a source close to the Brothers & Sisters alum tells TVLine that the actor asked to be let out of his contract after he learned what producers had in store for James in Season 7. “He initially joined the show because he wanted to work with [his Forever co-star] Deborah Ann Woll,” says the insider. “But when he started reading the scripts for Season 7, he was disappointed to learn that they were going in a completely different direction with James.”

Gonna take a stab that Lafayette's new beau is James, the description of him is the sames as James/Wes original casting call.
B at Skarsgardfans has some piccies from outside the set where S7 is filming, including Kristin. more at the link.
The Morrocan set is where we are surmising Eric makes his re-appearance with Frenchie GF Sylvie.

EDIT, as I posted previously Jamsie sounds like Lala's new man, I don't think Jess will go for that and drama will follow or maybe she will be happy for them. The actor is good, I've seen him on GH and he can go for laughs too. He was Holly and Luke's son.

Question: Is it too early for True Blood scoop? I could use some hot Bon Temps news in my snow-filled life! —Jenna
Ausiello: Is there life after love for poor widow Arlene? My guess is mmmhmmm after reading a new Season 7 breakdown for the recurring role of Keith, a romantic vampire who moonlights (get it?) as a drummer in James’ (Luke Grimes/Nathan Parsons) band and who takes an instant liking to a certain grieving waitress. Now I have a Q for you, Jenna — did we know that NuJames had a band?!?!

From TVLineAny news on the new villains/Big Bad of True Blood Season 7? —Tom
Who needs a new Big Bad when you’ve still got Anna Camp’s Sarah Newlin hanging around wreaking havoc at every turn? And in the show’s seventh and final season, we’ll be introduced to the vampire exterminator’s Texas socialite parents and angry, bitter, gothed-out sister. (Fun fact: Sarah’s spot-on maiden name? Crabtree!) While mom and dad will appear in just one episode, Sarah’s sis, Amber, will be staying put for an arc — an extremely juicy, twisty, this-will-explain-a-lot-about-why-Sarah-is-the-way-she-is arc.

Have to admit, I could care less about a new character, no matter who's sister they are, we;;, maybe Pam's. Pam anything is always bueno.
From Riley Smith's website- EXCLUSIVE: True Blood is adding a new vampire for its seventh and final season. Riley Smith (90210) is set for a major recurring role. He will play Keith, a sexy, rock ‘n’ roll vampire with a romantic side. A drummer in James’ (Nathan Parson) band, he becomes smitten with Arlene (Carrie Preston) on first sight. Smith, repped by Gersh and Sanders/Armstrong/Caserta, is a regular in Lifetime’s original movie/backdoor pilot Deliverance Creek from Nicholas Sparks Productions. The film has no airdate yet but is expected to premiere later this year, with the project still in series contention as backdoor pilot.
Dont know how real this is but it's supposed to be from the E2 script  from

Ol' Spoilerchat has a spoiler that spoiler lovers knew from the first casting call a while back- Anything to share on the final season of True Blood?Prepare for one last flashback as we'll revisit Bill as a human when the HBO vampy drama goes back to 1862. Expect to see Bill clash with some others over his thoughts on the war.
And-
Trevor: I need some True Blood scoop now, so gimme those bloody spoilers please. You all know Sarah Newlin, the vivacious blonde, played by the incredible Anna Camp, who will do whatever it takes to eliminate the vamps of the world. Well get ready fang bangers, because we're going to be meeting the Sarah's entire family! Introducing, Amber Crabtree, Sarah's angry and bitter gothed-out sister, Nancy, Sarah's socialite mother, and Paul, the patriarch of the Crabtree family who is a dead ringer for Dr. Phil. It's going to be quite the dysfunctional family reunion…

From Spoilerchat
Dev: Give me something to sink my teeth into on True Blood, please?

Have you heard about Arlene's new vampire "friend"? "I haven't met Riley Smith yet, but he is certainly very talented and I'm really looking forward to working with him and seeing what the writers do with that storyline," Carrie Preston told us. The vamp may be enamored with her, but will Arlene fall under his spell? "We do know that Arlene has not been the most open-minded person throughout the series, so I myself am curious to see how open she lets her mind go."
From TVLine-Question: Will we meet any new villains during True Blood‘s final season? —TomAusiello: Funny you should ask. Last week, the show put out a casting call for the cryptic-sounding menace, “The Figure.” He’s described as “scary, hulking, ugly, mean and crafty… like Leatherface or Jason Voorhees, but this guy talks.” Curiously, this Figure dude will appear in the season premiere — an episode that (presumably) finished shooting more than two months ago.
From EOnline, more new characters- You guys have been holding back on us True Blood fans. Spill it!
We're sorry, we didn't know there were any True Blood fans still out there... (We kid, we kid!) When the blood-thirsty HBO series returns this summer, brace yourselves for a whole new mess of baddies and troublemakers. One of our favorites is Mr. Gus--he's a Japan native who has fully embraced the "everything's bigger in Texas" way of living. The only thing bigger than his lavish, southern lifestyle? His quest for revenge, and trust us when we tell you, you do not want to cross him.
looks like this is how they make day filming nightime on the show.
More pics from Skarsgardfans at filming at the Bellefleur home, thanks as always (the last 3 years) and visit her site for more.
TEASER!!!

HBO's spring preview not much but we can still speculate.
Cap from Skarsgardfans shows Pam skulking around what looks like the Morrocan set (the restaurant), she is on Eric's trail (tail?)!

Urno insisted on doing this hep V version of Paul Rae onset, yes alcohol was involved so I didnt argue.
This "Figure" creature (they did reshoots for E1 to include him) seems to be a vamp with HepV, maybe the leader of the infected ones, he turns up at the Bellefleur mansion since there are fan photos with him in full makeup and he looks like he just ate someone judging by the blood dripping from his mouth. I hope Andy's last Fae daughter is ok.

From Kristin's Spoilerchat-
Andrea: I'm going to not make a bad vampire pun in hopes of you answering me this: What the heck is going on with Bill Compton? Last season on True Blood he was so … yeah. We're going back in time to meet Bill's parents, William Compton Sr. and Margaret Compton in 1855. We'lll also see Caroline Compton (Shannon Lucio) give birth to one of Bill's kids in the 1850s. And in the present, get ready to meet Brigette, a smokin' hot…microbiologist.

Film Crew LA ‏@filmcrewLA  'True Blood' filmed huge scenes last two days at the Skirball Center @Skirball_LA http://www.skirball.org
Wondering why they'd film there, maybe for the Dallas scenes?
Ausiello's spoiler, more on Mr. Gus-
Question: Do you know if we’re going to meet any of the beloved but sadly departed characters of the past on True Blood‘s final season? If not, do you have any other scoops? —Kenn
Ausiello: No word yet on any Nights of the Living Dead, but I can tell you that we’re getting what sounds like a new Big Bad in Mr.

Audio at EW- The stars of True Blood are halfway through filming their final season, and according to Amelia Rose Blaire, who plays Willa, it’s already a “jaw-dropper.” While she she’s predictably tight-lipped on what’s to come, she will say Willa comes into her own as a vampire with Tara (Rutina Wesley) as her teacher, and that she’d like Sookie to end up single. (If she had to root for someone, it would be Bill or Eric. Sorry, Alcide.)
pics from the set by David Glenn Swor, whose house is it? Bill's (left), Gran's (Sookie's porch)?
Look out, Bon Temps — there’s about to be a new vampire heartthrob in town, Riley Smith is gearing up to glamour fans with his exciting new role. The actor will take on the part of a sexy, rock 'n' roll vamp by the name of Keith. More at TV Rage but the spoilies are below.
TVRage: What can you tell us about your character?
Riley Smith: I’m playing Keith, who’s the new vampire for the seventh and final season. I’m going to get introduced in Episode 4 and then I’ll be with the show for the remainder of the season. Right now we’re actually filming Episode 5. I’m also going to be Arlene’s love interest, played by Carrie Preston, and I think that’s pretty much all I can talk about at this point.
TVRage:  Keith is immediately attracted to Arlene upon seeing her. Can you give any hints as to how the two of you first meet?
Smith: We meet on a mission where the vampires are trying to save some of the cast that are in trouble. That is how Keith and Arlene meet. Keith is saving Arlene from a serious situation and that’s their meet-cute, so to speak. And that’s what kind of brings Keith into that world.
I don’t know how much the audience knows so far about what’s going on, but there’s a big part of the first three episodes of Season 7 that’s leading up to this major thing that occurs in Episode 4 and it’s going to be a big situation. Episode 4 was a huge — I think it was like a 25-day shoot for us. There’s a huge fight and a lot of the main characters are in some serious trouble, so I’m recruited by James [played by Nathan Parsons] to come help and that’s what introduces Arlene and Keith. And that’s how they meet and they create their own relationship, which we’re just now starting to get into.

Aaron Christian Howles and Noah Matthews will return for the final season of True Blood, in a big way, GoodHollywood.com can exclusively confirm. Howles and Matthews play brothers Rocky and Wade Cleary, respectively.
"Our characters are involved in a plot this season." Howles said. Howles also said this is his biggest acting role so far. GoodHollywood.
New Promo, ok now that HBO released a better copy, I want to thank John Smith for the quickness that they caught the vid but am putting up the newnuone.
