Drink the Hiatus Blues Away

Come sit and have a drink with us, hasn't this been the least dry spell as far as hiatuses go? Not only has the cast kept busy though it but the casting calls look good, the new guest actors are primo and hot, Rhoswen7 is on fire, Barbara is sleuthing locations. I'm content and look forward to S5, so far.
Carrie Preston tweeted this article from Salt Lake's Tribune about her film, "That's What She Said", it's showing at this season's Sundance Film Fest.
Congratulations to Anna for her Best Actress Award from the London Film Critics Circle, she share the award for "Margaret" with Meryl Streep. From Deadline.
Re-posting this from Tuesday's blog-
Another interview with Valentina Cervi-Starting today the American Journal of Valentina Cervi,  the first Italian actress to play a leading role in a U.S. series, the cult hit True Blood . Daughter and granddaughter of artists, Valentina will be busy filming in Los Angeles for the next six months and speaking exclusively on our site about meetings, anecdotes from the set. Photo by Fabio Lovino
1 - Table read, This is the first meeting with my new team. About thirty actors listen to the brilliant producer, Alan Ball, giving information on new episodes of True Blood . At his side, the director and writer of the episode. Start reading, am a little 'scared. It's always the same the first time: it is still a beginning, a start. Listening with curiosity to the voices of my "fellow vampires." "How good they are," I think I recognize the characters, the shades, "feel" the characters. It is an easy read, but there is already clearly the flavor of the series. It is a united team, working together for several years: I tremble at the thought of my speech ...Then I look up and, before me, at the other side of the round table, I see Anna Paquin , protagonist of the previous four seasons of True Blood . I get distracted for a moment: I remember her first film, the child of The Piano , and I think that - in the space that divides us and brings us together - there's Jane Campion , the director with whom I also I made my debut (in Portrait of a Lady) : we both are deeply indebted to her. Funny, I relax. This strange coincidence somehow reassures me and gives me the courage to go ahead. It's up to me to read: "Welcome." I'm glad, not bad for the first line ...
The site did this interview with her also, just posting the goodies from it.-She talks about her previous roles and they say she is Queen of the Vampires to which she answers:
Yes, I am Salome, Salome of  the Gospels, who has traveled over the millennia, has landed in Louisiana and has been reincarnated. Powerful, yet fragile and emotional, capable of falling in love. They compare the huge success of Twilight and True Blood, and this is the time for all things vamp. True Blood has a huge following because it is the response to Twilight
there is sex and blood galore, it is not conformist ... Vampires, I think, take us back to our primal instincts that is within each of us, but was quieted by the conventions. People have wanted to explore that without limits or rules.
There is a lot of sex in True Blood, are you embarrassed?
There is nudity ... Anyway, I never feel I have to tell half a story. In the TV series the vampires claim that human beings talk about sex every six seconds, then they are afraid to do so, to get dirty ... funny.
They ask if she is like that too.
She replies-No, I'm pretty free. Although I have some taboos, I'm "classic" in my sexuality, I'm without strange fantasies. It is erotic to be faithful, erotic to make love with the same person. It's erotic if you like your partner, not to invent who knows what.
They ask if she ever had a partner who was like a vampire (ED.what strange questions) She answers that she has suffered but it was her choice, she knew what she was getting into and the experience helped her recognize true love later.
They ask if she has that today. She replies that yes, she found the right man. Everything comes when you live long enough.
Dread Central has some info on Ryan Kwanten's new film, "7500".
Even though we cannot see what they're all looking at, it's a safe bet that everyone in this latest still from 7500 is face-to-face with something truly bad. I mean, come on, have you ever seen Turtle from "Entourage" scared of anything?!?
He says the movie is based on true events in the vid below, whaaaaaa?

Name: Audrey Fisher, Title: Costume Designer
What you've been up to this week:Knee deep in fabulous costume research for Season 5! I'm getting up to speed on what's in all the stores, making contact with all the companies that we work with, and getting in touch with the actors. But most importantly I'm prepping for a costume meeting with Alan to talk about the look of the season and get his take any exciting new characters and flashback or historical scenes with lots of costumes… That meeting provides the backbone for the start of my season in terms of costumes, and I can use all the information I get from him to move forward with all my designs.
Weirdest thing you've had to do for True Blood:Feed an actress a sandwich! When Michelle Forbes was the Maenad Bride during the climax of Season 2, she was wearing her giant 3 fingered claw hands and this giant 1940s bridal gown and floral headpiece, and the poor dear was so hungry but couldn't hold her own sandwich… so I fed her. It was very intimate.
Your favorite episode or scene:I'm partial to the historical flashbacks because it's so fascinating to see the characters in that new environment, watch the actors be transformed in their period costumes and witness it all unfold in the gorgeous sets that Suzuki creates for those scenes. I think it's a lot of fun for everyone. I especially loved Season 2's 1920s flashback, when we get to see Lorena and Bill in seductive, murderous action, and then their 1930s lovers' spat with Lorena in her emerald green bias cut sheath, throwing lamps in Madonna's old Spanish house in the Los Feliz Hills! But there are so many contemporary scenes that immediately come to mind: I loved those Season 2 scenes when Sookie went to Dallas with Bill, their first big trip together, with all her special travel outfits, from the yellow rose cardigan with gingham skirt to her festive red-handkerchief halter dress… She was cute as a button, a wide-eyed, flirty small town girl stepping out with her handsome Vampire Bill. I also adored that lush feast at Russell's mansion during Season 3—you know with the blood gelato—because the men all looked so elegant in their posh evening wear. But as you can imagine choosing a favorite scene is almost impossible because there are so many stories behind each costume, and every character and every element of their costume… I'm almost like our telepathic Sookie when I watch the show because I'm so deeply aware of all the little stories behind each costume piece that made it on screen in that scene.

Missing Stephen Moyer news, let's rewatch this Jonathan Ross' show interview from 2010.

Hmm, wondering who Meloni will play, seems it is some one we would know from the books seeing as how the cast list still has his character empty.
This is Holly's older son Rocky, Aaron Christian Howles, you might remember him from United States of Tara.
From a previous post this is Brandon James, who we think is his bro Wade, there is a resemblance, no?

Bela Takes the Lead for Hiatus Support

I guess I'm pretty much of a lone wolf. I don't say I don't like people at all but, to tell you the truth I only like it then if I have a chance to look deep into their hearts and their minds."

More from the Flaunt Magazine article on Joe Manganiello-
You have to read the whole article at the site, it's written like True Blood is Euripides lost work.
Manganiello speaks with a sophisticated and spherical understanding of his character that extends far beyond his personal role and into the overall cultural significance of True Blood. After having argued the case for his expertise and in returning to the social context of the show, I too am at the edge of my seat. “Honestly,” he says, “it might be the fact that we’re in a global economic recession, and people need this kind of fantasy to get far away from where they’re at.” In a recent and shockingly eerie coincidence, he recalls speaking candidly with a friend in England and discussing how vampires represent the upper class and, historically, werewolves become popular in times of recession. “When finances are down,” he recalls discussing, “werewolves embody people’s fears that the masses are going to turn animalistic—a fear that the have-nots will attack the haves.” Two days after having this discussion, as if by premonition, he opened the paper to riots occurring all across London.
Yes Pam, I know.
My favorite SGU Wraith is coming to TB!!!! From Deadline-
EXCLUSIVE: Christopher Heyerdahl, who plays an ancient vampire in the Twilight Saga movies, will now play one in another screen adaptation of a popular book series — this time on TV. Heyerdahl is joining HBO’s hit vampire drama True Blood in a recurring role. He will portray Dieter Braun, an ancient, powerful vampire who plays a large part in the intelligence of the Authority and especially enjoys enhanced interrogation. That is familiar territory for Sanctuary alum Heyerdahl, who played the ancient Volturi vampire Marcus in three of the Twilight movies: New Moon, Breaking Dawn Part 1 and the upcoming Part 2 (photo on left). Additionally, he played a demon in an arc on the CW’sSupernatural. Heyerdahl, repped by Open Entertainment’s Lesa Kirk, currently co-stars on the AMC drama seriesHell On Wheels playing Norwegian badass The Swede.
I have missed John Druit on Sanctuary so this is extra goodness.

Another bitsie from TVGuide's Mega Buzz
Is there still hope for Sookie and Eric on True Blood? — Alexis
NATALIE:
Considering that Sookie swore off both Bill and Eric in the season finale, it'll be a while before we see any movement on that front. "The feelings are still there for both Eric and Bill,"Alexander Skarsgard tells us. "The attraction is still there, but they're preoccupied, and so is she." Instead, look for Bill and Eric to team up while the vampire world begins to both expand and collapse in the coming season. "The guys have usually tried to kill each other and now suddenly have to learn to become friends and protect each other and work together."
From ET- video HERE
The latest member of Blood's brood to moonlight on a different series is Janina Gavankar, who plays Sam Merlotte's sexy shape-shifting love interest Luna. On January 18, she heads to The Exes, playing Phil's ex-wife Carrie, who he runs into during a particularly awkward dinner "date." Check out an ETonline exclusive sneak peek from the episode and be sure to tune in to The Exes every Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. on TVLand.
You can buy this lil bit of cuteness on Etsy, it's Alcide, go to the link for more  Truebie dollies.

The Nesters have scans of the SciFi Now True Blood article, several more at the link. For their 63rd issue, SciFiNow magazine caught up with Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard and Deborah Ann Woll for a chat about what’s to come in True Blood.  Unfortunately though, since this is a British magazine, they are discussing season four, which is yet to air here (5th of February on FX, UK Trubies!).

io9.com has an article of Vamps, TB is part of it too, fun read for fans.

Hiatus Howling Continues

Some of you might remember this one, "Werewolf", it starred a young John York. It still amazes me his career landed playing the seldom seen Mac on General Hospital, he was way hot back in those days and not a bad actor. In the 80's it was literally raining men, so he somehow got overlooked (?). He played Eric Cord, a college student, who after getting bit goes from town to town across America looking for the originator of his wolfie bloodline to kill him and be rid of the curse. The thing that I loved about this plotline was that he was a skanky drifter played by...wait for it...Chuck Conners, Lucas McCain gone way bad. Every week as the credits rolled I would laugh to myself because the creator and writer was Frank Lupo, who better to write a show on werewolves? The vid below is very grainy and I am hoping to find a better copy but doesnt it remind you of Sam naked in the woods from TB S1? There seems to be whole eps up on youtube, oh yeah, just watching some bits I am loving it all over again. Chuck Connors was so badass/scary in this.

Don't remember seeing this before-

From the Golden Globes

More from Kristin-Let the record show: Ryan Kwanten and Joe Manganiello are truly fine actors who churn out excellent work on True Blood. And not to take anything away from that, but when the pair hit a red carpet together, as they did at last night's star-studded HBO Golden Globes party, the press line gets a bit...giddy. It can't be helped. It's not our fault. I mean, have you seen them?
Poor Zooey Deschanel has to hook up with Ryan on New Girl (tragic!), and Kwanten gave us the scoop on that, plus what's ahead for True Blood's "out of the box" season five. Plus, if accidentally doing a nude scene in front of a school bus filled with children sounds like something you should go to prison for, um, break out the handcuffs...
It's part of the reason we fans love True Blood so: Alan Ball and his team always find new ways to surprise and amuse!
At last night's red-hot HBO party, Kwanten told me of season five: "This is going to be a very sort of out-of-the-box season. If we broke down the wall before, now we are firmly on the other side. I think you can always expect the unexpected with us."

What else you can expect? Not a lot of clothing. "It's True Blood," teases Manganiello. "We aren't allowed to!"
Manganiello also reveals that a recent nude scene (he plays werewolf Alcide) went unexpectedly awry: "We were shooting a transformation scene in broad daylight and there was a hedge and over the hedge was a school bus filled with kids." Whoops. Though he clearly wished that mistake hadn't happened, he pauses and jokes, "Listen, you're not having fun unless it's something you can get thrown in prison for."
She has much more GG scoop at the links.
Ausiello has scoopage.
Vampires, shapeshifters and werewolves were among the guests raising a glass to the Golden Globes at HBO’s post-show soiree Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton. We’re talking, of course, about the True Blood cast, several of whom were in a fairly chatty (read: scoopy) mood. Herewith are six of the meatiest, juiciest teases we extracted from them.
1 | Janina Gavankar revealed that “a major thing happens to Luna early in the season, and it’s going to change her life forever.” (pregs or dead?)
2 | The cast learned that Chris Meloni was Bon Temps-bound last month at a table read, news that elicited “gasps” throughout the room, recalled Gavankar. “We’re so excited to have him.”
3 | Alcide’s days of playing Mr. Nice Guy are over. “As you saw at the end of Season 4, he’s not taking anyone’s s— anymore,” said the man-beast’s portrayer, Joe Manganiello. “Now you’re going to see an Alcide who’s going to slam you up against the wall and do his thing. Who doesn’t like being slammed up against the wall, right?” Asked to clarify his use of the word “slam” — i.e. is it a euphemism for, ahem, another s-word — Manganiello cracked a devilish smile and replied, “It could be a fun slam. And it could be an angry slam. You never know?” He then reminded us that, “Alcide is single.” (maybe he'll finally be sexy on TB, meaning more than just look good)
4 | The latest True Blood script Manganiello read contains “some really fun [Alcide-Sookie] stuff,” he revealed. “Stuff that makes you really nervous… I’m watching my words really carefully.” (nervous that Bill or Eric will find out?)
5 | Ryan Kwanten hinted that Jason may have bitten off more than he could chew with regard to his romance with Jessica. “As you know, anyone who gets involved with Jason better have her wits about her,” he said. “But I think in this case, it’s Jason who better watch out. The tables have finally turned.” ( Jess doesn't want to be with just one male?)
6 | Where do you go after spending half of Season 4 being raped by a werepanther? “Even that can be topped,” teased Kwanten. “Jason was very lucky to survive; he was down for the count. He has a desire to life. I admire that in a man.” (With reporting by Vlada Gelman)
