True Blood Hiatus Support Group

Barnabas wanted to host the weekend and he's not someone you say no to, worse than Uncle Karl!
He seems to really like Joe Maganiello, who knew? It must stem from Alcide reminding him of hot stuff Quentin, can't blame him.

More photos of Joe from GQ Style UK, he needs Just for Men for Beards.
From CinemaBlend-
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling and Alexander Skarsgard: three of the most in-demand young actors working in Hollywood today. The first broke out in last year's Inception, is earning Oscar buzz for his role in the upcoming 50/50 and has a part in Christopher Nolan's final Batman movie. The second has been everywhere this year and his performance in Drive, which is set to premiere tomorrow, has earned the actor almost unanimous praise. The third is a star on HBO's hit showTrue Blood and, like Gosling, has a new movie opening tomorrow (Straw Dogs). You have to imagine that every casting agent in Hollywood wants at least one of them to star in their new project.
Gordon-Levitt, Gosling and Skarsgard are now being looked at for the starring role in Steven Soderbergh's The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Unlike Clooney, however, who was being looked at for the role of Napoleon Solo - the character originally played by Robert Vaughn- the three young actors are being looked at for the part of Ilya Kuryakin, Solo's partner (yes, I am aware how weird that sounds). The story comes from a source close to the production, who says that the three actors are just a few of the names that the studio is looking at, the full list including upwards of 20 actors.
From Shockya,com
True Blood’s Stephen Moyer, known as Bill Compton to fans of the Allan Ball series, is now officially attached to star in director Darren Lynn Bousman’s (Saw, Repo) devilish tale of a camping trip gone awry. According to Variety, Moyer has inked a deal to star in the movie titled ‘The Barrens’, where he will play a man who decides to take his family on a camping trip to the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Becoming “convinced they’re being stalked by a legendary winged monster that looks like a deformed hybrid of several different animals,” Moyer’s character will undoubtedly go mad
Speaking to Variety, Bousman ensured the outlet that he plans to take the horror picture “another step further. I don’t want to turn it into a cheesy creature feature. It’s about the characters for me, and having watched Stephen for years on ‘True Blood,’ I have no doubt he’s the right leading man.

From AfterElton, lol! I bet Harkness did tell him that.
This week saw the season finale of True Blood, and let's just say the show lived up to the "blood" part of the title as a lot of that sticky fluid was shed, including some belonging to characters very popular with AE readers. At the top of that list was Jesus (Kevin Alejandro), Lafayette's boyfriend. Also dying wasTara (Rutina Wesley) and Nan Flanagan (Jessica Tuck), all of whom were at the very least queer characters, if not actually gay

McMillian discusses his current writing project, “True Blood: Tainted Love,” co-written with Marc Andreyko. The series deals with his character from the show, Steve Newlin. The story takes place between seasons 2 and 3, and McMillian teases the future of Newlin on the HBO series which just wrapped its 4th season. CBR
HBO has many new stills for each main character from season four up on True Blood's Facebook page. Terry in  ginge sandwich look at him smiling.

This scene should be watched daily

Scans from the latest EW are at Skarsgard Source, this is only one of the pages there.
From the Vault Sookie with a wee Goblin, member of the Fae, lol.

Welcome to True Blood Hiatus Hell

Welcome to our little corner of hell, where waiting does really suck, just ask our host, Uncle Karl.
It's that time of year (again) when spoilers flow slow and we make our own fun. I'm just going to keep adding to this post until it's ridiculously long then make another and another etc..
Posted this back in August it's a casting call for S5, from Rhoswen7
TRUE BLOOD (New Series Regular)
Start Date: Mid-November
Location: L.A.
[NEW FEMALE VAMPIRE] 19 to 30s. A dangerous female seductress. Must be smoking hot! Nudity required.

That's right, peoples - it's the last Blood Work! of the season, which just happens to come right after the last episode of "True Blood" Season 4 (ain't that crazy?!). The finale episode has been a love-it-or-hate-it finale for many, and Andy and I are here to help you decide once and for all whether it was a trick or a treat.
In this vlog we discuss eggs over-Marnie, shotgun murder, Cajun ghosts, demons, Steve Newlin, the loss of our patron saint Banana Flanagan, half-assed Halloween costumes, and the Bon Temps Community Playhouse production of Our Town. We also announce the winner of the end-of-season giveaway, with a few surprises!

Question: OK Mikey (is it alright if I call you that?), now that True Blood has come to an end, please give us some dirt — even the tiniest amount — about next season! —Paige
Ausiello: Season 5 will pick up right where Season 4 left off — with Tara’s brains splattered all over Sookie’s kitchen floor. And to answer your first question, it’s most definitely not alright, Paige.
TVFanatic condensed the EW interview with Raelle Tucker -
We'll meet "a very significant, strong, mysterious woman at the center of one of our main stories next year,” Tucker saysTucker. “It may be someone you’ve heard of before.”
The show will visit the fairy world again - a dropped storyline that angered us in the most recent True Blood Round Table - as the season "will explore more fairies, new fairies, fairies in a way you haven’t really seen fairies."
The wolf that growled at Sam to conclude season four will be identified.
Russell Edgington? He'll return, Tucker confirmed:"It’s safe to assume the king of Mississippi is not gone for good.”
Sookie will remain single.

The consequences of Bill and Eric teaming up to kill Nan "are going to chase them for a while next year.”

Anna Paquin with be a presenter on Sunday's Emmys, no word on Mr Moyer but it would be cute to see them both (cute? kill me now)
Huffpo talks to Kristin about the finale and what might be coming up in S5 for Pam.
In Sunday night's season four finale, the tension between Pam and her maker Eric reached a humorous boiling point when Pam, ever the dramatic, throws a bona fide vamp temper tantrum at Fangtasia, exclaiming, "I am so over Sookie and her precious fairy vagina and her stupid name." And while Pam's less-than-pleasant sentiments may have echoed the thoughts of millions of viewers, it didn't do much to detour Eric from Sookie's "precious fairy vagina"
"He really is the one rock in her life -- the one person she really loves and would do anything for," Bauer told The Huffington Post. "She would die for Eric. That's it for her. He's her maker. He really is her best friend, her daddy, and they just have such a complicated relationship. And she loves being his lieutenant. She doesn't want to be first-in-command, so when he's not there to be her rock, she doesn't like it. That will definitely come into play when we go into Pam and Eric's pasts next season."
But as an actress, Bauer points out, fans are just starting to understand Pam and all of her intricacies as a character -- "part vulnerable, part badass" -- and season five promises to explore Pam's origins even further.
"I loved seeing a vulnerable side to Pam this season, " said Bauer. "As an actor, you want to do something new every year and do something deeper, so it was incredibly fun for me to get to see who she was without Eric because he wasn’t really there for her this season. And then you take away her looks -- her vanity -- and I had no idea how she would react. It’s the same in real life too. When the sh-t hits the fan, you really discover yourself, and the fact that she becomes a warrior made me love her even more. She could have sat there and cried and felt sorry for herself, but that’s not Pam." Read it all at the link above, it's always good if it's Kristin talking.
Rabid Doll has a recap that I can identify with, it's all at the link -
Finally, "True Blood" recaptured some of the magic of previous seasons with a season finale that was almost good enough to make viewers forget about the poor quality of episodes they had to endure this season. Almost. A great finale does not make a great season, and Season 4 was anything but great. Still, this was fun to watch. The first character of the evening to join the body count was Jesus (Kevin Alejandro), who realizes too late that Marnie (Fiona Shaw) has possessed Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis). Somehow, without it being shown, he/she is able to capture Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), strip them naked, and tie them up to a stake to be burned. I am not sure how that was accomplished. It seems quite implausible, but who's complaining? Apparently the director couldn't figure out a way to make it believable either, so viewers just have to accept that it happened.
Who's up for breaking into Merlottes, getting bombed and egging the king's mansion?

What better time than hiatus to play with True Blood paperdolls by Andy Swist?

MMTV's HollywoodCrush talks to Askars about Straw Dogs and Season 5
It's been an interesting season for the frequently nude, ever evolving Eric on "True Blood." He lost himself for a while there, and while in an amnesiac state, fell for Sookie. And in turn, she kind of fell for him. (Side note: WHO COULD BLAME HER?!) And then, well, he regained his memory and he wasn't a hoodie-wearing Eric anymore and the bad boy was back.
Except as the charming Alexander Skarsgard told us at the New York premiere for "Straw Dogs," he may be as bad as ever, but he certainly isn't the same. "They're writing the season right now and there's a great opportunity here 'cause old Eric is back, but it's not the old Eric, 'cause he still remembers the love with Sookie and that changed him," he explained, as we swooned.
Charlaine Harris on the Geek's Guide to the Galaxy, via  io9.com, download the MP3 HERE or listen on the site, here's what she discussed-Part 1: Interview with Charlaine Harris (1:22)
Topics covered: Synthetic blood, rules for vampires, appealing to mystery, fantasy, and romance readers, wrapping up a long-running series, Six Feet Under and Lost, viral marketing, biggest surprises watching True Blood, Anne Rice, vampire sex, Twilight, early influences, Jane Eyre and The Three Musketeers, favorite science fiction, Harper Connelly, lightning strike survivors, "An Evening with Al Gore," editing anthologies, fans invested in Sookie's love life, odd fan behavior, upcoming projects.
Meredith, who wrote the great Pros and Cons Recaps, wasn't too happy with the season and it's all HERE.
Horrible Villains
Why It Sucked: Hey, starting a season after introducing probably one of the best TV villains ever created (Russell Edgington) can't be easy. Plus right before the King of Mississippi there was the even more nefarious — and rife with political metaphor — character, Rev. Steve Newlin. Suffice to say the friendless witch, meth-faced were-panthers and the werewolf with short-man syndrome just didn't live up to their predecessors. They were downright terrible characters, weren't they? Thankfully, and unsurprisingly, everyone was killed off, so we can start anew with folks who are actually frightening.
How It Can Be Saved: It's already in motion, the cliffhangers for the season teased the return of both Edgington and Newlin. (yippee from me)

Carrie Preston is heading back to court

The True Blood star has been booked to reprise her role on CBS’ The Good Wife, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
Preston is slated to guest star as as Elsbeth Tascioni in Episode 307. Preston first checked in to the Juliana Margulies-Chris Noth starrer for two episodes during Season 1 as a member of Peter’s legal team.
While Preston is confirmed to guest star in the episode, sources say there’s a strong chance her time with Emmy-nominated drama will expand during its upcoming third season.

True Blood Hiatus Has Begun

I don't think Tara is dead, it was just another excuse for Sookie to not only do the fug cry face but her fug scream face. Look at the photo, she's out cold and will need a vamp blood healing but I see no brain bits, yawn. Here's another article, this one's from TVLine (the other is from yesterday's blog).-
“I have to say it was actually kind of cool having my brains blown out,” confesses Wesley with a laugh. “All of the special effects and everything… It was cool.”
If she sounds surprisingly chipper for someone who just lost her job on one of TV’s most successful shows, it’s probably because well…she didn’t actually lose her job. In the following Q&A with TVLine, Wesley confirms that she will be back for True Blood‘s fifth season — but that’s only half the story.
TVLINE | When did you first find out Tara was getting shot in the head?
[Series creator] Alan Ball himself pulled me aside early on and told me that this was happening. And I was like, ‘OK, that’s cool.’ I know I’m coming back in some capacity, I just don’t know how I’m coming back. It’s scary as an actor to be in that position. Whatever they do, I think it’s the Golden Hour for Tara. But I don’t know how they’re going to revive me or if I’m dead. And that’s the big question: Can she be saved?

TVLINE | Has your contract option for Season 5 been officially picked up?
Yes. I know I’m coming back. I just don’t know in what capacity.

TVLINE | If she is brought back to life, it seems unlikely she’ll just be the same old Tara.
I like playing a human on the show. I like not having any powers. I like being the voice of reason. But it wouldn’t be a drama if we didn’t have a shift in things. Everything’s up in the air because half of my head is missing. [Laughs] I know Alan has big plans for me next season. But has he shared those plans with me? Not really.

TVLINE | Have you entertained the idea that she might become a vampire?
Not really. Some of my fans actually talked about that a couple years ago. They were like, “Wouldn’t it be great if Tara became a badass vampire? Wouldn’t that be amazing?” But as I said, I like being human. [Laughs] We don’t have that many on the show. And then I’d have to figure out how to talk with the fangs and all that crazy stuff. But with that kind of injury, even if I got the vampire blood could that really save me? I don’t know.

It's just a flesh wound!

Season 5 Posters from True Blood's Facebook via The Vault, I had such a hard time with posting the the photos individually from FB that I was happy to see the Vault did it.
Blogger really sucks the suck sometimes.

Some scoopage from EW's InsideTVBlog,
Since the citizens of Bon Temps dropped like flies (RIP Jesus, Marnie, Nan, and possibly Tara) on True Blood's finale, season 5 will introduce fresh meat and showcase some familiar faces. “There will be a very significant, strong, mysterious woman at the center of one of our main stories next year,” says co-executive producer Raelle Tucker. “That will be a very familiar and compelling character. It may be someone you’ve heard of before.” We will also once again visit the fairy world touched upon at the beginning of season 4. Says Tucker, “Season 5 will explore more fairies, new fairies, fairies in a way you haven’t really seen fairies. We will all, as well as Sookie, come to understand fairies more than in previous seasons.”
Scott Foley’s Patrick, who we met in the finale, will bring trouble to Terry (Todd Lowe) and Arlene (Carrie Preston). Says Tucker, “His arc has to do with Terry’s past coming back to haunt Bon Temps and Arlene and their life they’re trying to set up together.” The identity of the wolf seen growling at Sam (Sam Trammell) in the final moments will be revealed — and, according to Tucker, is “someone you have never met before.” Tucker, who wrote the season finale, won’t confirm, though, if said werewolf is Alcide’s (Joe Manganiello) father, Jackson, who is featured in book 5 of Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse novels. The unearthed King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare), will be back. “Russell is not dead,” says Tucker. “It’s safe to assume the king of Mississippi is not gone for good.” Also look for former Fellowship of the Sun leader — and now vampire — Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian).  Teases Tucker, “I will say that Steve’s reason for returning to Jason is not at all what you expect.”
Then there’s Sookie, who blew off three supernatural hunks to be alone. Fans of Eric (Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd) and Sookie’s romance will be sad to know that her independent streak will continue next year. “While there will always be romance in Sookie’s life, Sookie at the moment is choosing herself over all of them,” reveals Tucker. “I think that will continue to play into season 5.“ At least there’s the potential for a new bromance — or a Thelma & Louise-style fugitive friendship — between Eric and Bill (Stephen Moyer) now that they’ve killed Nan Flanagan (Jessica Tuck). Teases Tucker, “The consequences of their actions in the finale are going to chase them for a while next year.”
The wolf is a newb??? Steve isnt there for what we think, so he isn't hot for Jason? That look said otherwise and those aren't Halloween fake teeth either.  More fairies, ok, I at least have a Terry storyline to look forward to. Who could be the woman we've heard of before?
When Kevin Alejandro found out Jesus was going to bite it he says it was all his idea to have it be by Lafayette in this interview with Access Hollywood.
It was around the time they began work on Episode 2 that Kevin heard from “True Blood” writer Alexander Woo and creator Alan Ball, that his character, Jesus, would be meeting his end in Season 4.
The actor, who joined the HBO drama just last season, after leaving “Southland,” confirmed what Nelsan recently told Access — it was Kevin’s idea to have Jesus die at the hands of his boyfriend, Lafayette.
“It was, actually. I thought it would be interesting. The direction that they put the characters in [was] so ‘in love,’ where we balance each other out,” Kevin explained of his idea. “What an incredible statement to go into the show, creating such love and having the one person that you love the most have to take your life.
“It was really sad for me, ‘cause it’s the inevitable end. I know what’s coming, we all know what’s coming,” Kevin told Access. “Nelsan wasn’t exaggerating when he said that we’ve become extremely close. My family loves him. When we found out that I was gonna die, he was the first person out at my [home]. We were talking about it and trying to figure out if it was something that we did, just trying to figure out why exactly they were going in this direction with the character.
The decision actually had to do with creator Alan’s much-talked about idea that happy couples don’t make good TV, the same notion that led to Bill Compton and Sookie Stackhouse splitting up in Season 3.
Good times!
See, this is the scoop we need, whodathunkit? I blame Nan.

You know Sookie screaming for help at the end of the ep has me thinking, maybe she has some fairy power that she can whip up. What about a fairy popping in to save the day? Tinkerbell would. Why Sookie STILL has not explored all her fae traits is beyond me, lazy writers?

True Blood Finale Extravaganza Continues

Rutina talks to EW's InsideTV about the finale and Tara's future, the whole read is at the link.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What did you think when you read the season finale script?
RUTINA WESLEY: Well I mean, I knew ahead of time that it was coming. It’s always a scary place as an actor to go there. I don’t know what
their plans are for next season. I know that Alan has said there are “big plans,” but I don’t know what that really means, and things can always change. I’m not for sure, but I trust him completely. At the end of the day, it’s hard to see how I’m coming back, seeing as half of my head was just blown off. I don’t know. They may figure something out. I mean it’s True Blood. There’s always flashbacks. There’s phantasms. There’s all this crazy stuff. It’s very possible. But I’m excited either way. If it does all end, I’ve had the most amazing time of my life. It’s really great.

In your mind, is Tara dead?
Well I mean half my head is missing. I’m just gonna keep saying that. You know, it’s True Blood. I feel like anything is possible. If anything, it is the golden hour though. If she is able to be saved, it’s like she’s got 20 seconds. It’s not a lot of time. I’m curious to see what they’re going to do with all of it. I hope I’m back. But again half my head is missing [laughs].

Maybe Tara will just wear a lot of hats?
Yeah I mean yeah she can wear a lot of hats. Put some gauze on it. But people are going crazy! [Laughs]

Are you signed on for a season 5?
Yeah. It’s out there that Alan has already said that he has big plans for Tara. But things change. I don’t know exactly what they have in store for me and how long that will be. It’s tricky. And if I did know, I’m just not going to say. [Laughs] But again — half the head is missing. The cool part is people are talking. And that’s the question is: Is she dead or is she not? Because people can survive head wounds. But we have people on the show that can make things happen — you know what I mean? I don’t know what’s going to happen the first episode of next season. I’m just as excited and curious you are. I hope it’s good. I hope I stick around for a while. That would be nice. [Laughs]

EW's episode recap makes good points
I'm confused: On paper, this episode has the makings of a killer season finale: Multiple deaths, a hot Jason and Jessica sex scene, a moment of Bill and Eric shirtlessness, and Pam lines we'll be quoting for days to come. So why am I underwhelmed? I think it's because Marnie walking off with the other spirits like it was the end of Field of Dreams was anticlimactic.
WWSND?

UGO has their recap done as a play by play, the whole deal at the link-
Back at Merlottes, we get a look at Arlene's kids. They do say the darnedest things. Lisa is dressed as a Janelle from Teen Mom 2. Ahem, Arlene gets her kids to behave by threatening to have them trick or treat in the trailer park. ''Do you want a bunch of empty Coors cans and food stamps or do you want candy?'' Sam introduces Emma, who spills her guts about being a shifter. A man from Terry's past comes back... someone he's never spoken of to Arlene. Apparently this man was saved twice by Terry. Anyone else worried about what they'll do to Terry as well as being curious about his war experience? Alcide drops by to tell Sookie that the two of them should date. Sookie lets him down gently.

Ever see that news article about the woman whose weave stopped a bullet? Tara?
Skarsgardfans has great screencaps for the finale

We've had a day for "And When I Die" to marinate, and there are both good and goofy things about the episode. It wasn't boring that's for sure, but some things just were a bit much, mostly the ridiculous withchipoo goings on. Where to begin with the Marnie-itis?
How would she know that Jesus family's personal demon would ever go into a stranger? Y'all had to notice we jumped right into Eric AND Bill being silvered to a telephone pole and surrounded by shutters and other pieces of wood with no idea how she did that. She didn't have Antonia's necromantic powers to command them, that sure must have been a lot of wrestling around with the 3 of them.
I'd love a scene next season with Maxine waking up to all her shutters and pieces of her house missing, lulz. What with all the super-sized spells suddenly being common knowledge, I guess we should just move onto Holly having a spell to stop Marnie up her sleeve too. How the hell did Sookie and Tara know the spell to start chanting it? Makes my head hurt to think of it all but I am glad it is over with, it was weak. Weak was how I would describe 2 vamps feeding off of Sookie at once and girl didn't even need a glass of  orange juice like when I donate just a pint. C'mon, give the girl a bottle of  TrueBlood at least (what's up with them not drinking it lately?) and why don't these guys have a freezer full of blood at their disposal?
It was wonderful to see Lois Smith again, she's a scene stealer. The rest of the waking the dead was lame, they did nothing but stand around, I was hoping for a Civil War soldier or two that fought with Compton to come to his aid, but nooooo. What was Rene on about? The dark past of Terry, hmm, is that Patrick or as has been on boards since season 1, there's something about Terry? I don't think Tara is dead, it looked like it grazed an ear off, she has two after all. The same can't be said for Debbie, that double barrell was right on the mark.
Everything Pam says is gold, she is so right about Sookie, Eric is a weak puppy around her and for what? Fae smae, he has too much pride and too many years as a vampire to be reduced to THAT.
The Ginger and Pam scene was perfect and sweet. So who released Russell, it had to be a vamp if the construction dude was glamored. My only thought was that he'd be a nice chubby meal for the king, was he hustled off?  Maybe someone doesn't trust Nan to do the job of getting rid of Eric and Bill, so they want Russell to finish the 3 of them off once and for all? We always knew Steve took a shine to Jason, as much as Sarah did and he looks like he wants to make up for lost time, lol. Jessica and Jason? While I like both characters and actors I don't want to see that, and does this mean we won't see Hoyt much next season because he has no plotline? If someone was making me porkrind anything I'd move the hell out a lot sooner than Hoyt did. Hoyt is lucky he isn't going on the biggest loser with that diet. The wolf snarling at Sam could be anything, could be an old friend shifting by, Patrick pissed about Marcus, maybe the motorcycle were who looked like Alcide getting revenge because now he doesn't have a job. This is just me thinking about the ep, sounds like I hated it but I didn't at all and like I said I am happy that witch shit is DUN.

The WSJ's Speakeasy Recap-
“True Blood” finales always have a tendency to be more miss than hit, so it was it was nice to see that the fourth season closer (“When I Die”) managed to end things with a bang rather than a whimper.
Tara arrives at Lafayette’s and finds Jesus dead. She can never just show up and find puppies, can she?
At Bill’s, Nan shows up to tell them she’s quit/been fired from the AVL and the Authority. She wants them to join her against them with other factions that have gone rogue. Sick of her histrionics, Bill and Eric cut her off (literally) so she and her gay stormtroopers are rendered into puddles of red goop on the floor.
Jethro at THR has a bunch of tweets from last night and a lil recap
Alan Ball talks about Vamps

Celebitchy Wonders If True Blood Jumped the Shark, and has some of the better one liners-
Sookie asks Holly if she’s ever cast a serious spell like the one she’s going to attempt to save the vampires from Marnie’s ghost. “Goddess no, usually I just light a candle and ask the spirits to make sure my boys don’t end up in jail or knock somebody up, but so far that’s worked out ok.”
Meredith from io9 thinks they killed all the right people, her pros and cons-
Con: Sookie explains how Marnie channeled Gran all those days ago, notes how she took none of her advice. Sookie continues on saying that she "feels like her Gran is here," like really, really here. Which in True Blood foreshadowing language means, "Grams is coming back in about 20 minutes." So yay?
Pro: "What are we magnets for fucking craziness?" Yes. And clearly Sookie is keeping said magnet in her vagina.
Pro: Haha! Tara tells Sookie that she hopes she can sit on her fantasy future porch watching the sunset in the future. By the laws of True Blood foreshadowing, Tara will now become a vampire and never able to watch said sunset on said porch with said Sookie. (yeah!!!)
Pro: Hoyt Truths: "You could have anyone, she was the only one. You make fucked-up selfish piece of shit choices." Yes. And as much as I hate Jason for causing all this distress for Hoyt, it's still Jason. I still love you Jason, you and your crazy eggplant dick (remember that good times).
Whew, think she bought that? Yep, thought she's never leave, come here and pillage me.
one more time for the recap.
