Dabbles in Blood

Robert Patrick's Jackson Herveaux will be a regular next season, the first character who had an anti-vampire arsenal, including taking colloidal silver to repel a biter.
From Deadline
Three weeks after ABC opted not to give a back order to submarine drama Last Resort, the series co-star Robert Patrick has signed on a series regular on HBO’s vampire drama True Blood, playing Alcide’s (Joe Manganiello) father. Patrick first introduced the character on the hit HBO drama in the most recent fifth season where he did a three-episode arc, appearing in the three of the last four episodes of the season. He was tapped for the recurring gig in June, after his pilot Last Resort had been picked up to series by ABC. While the broadcast network stopped short of a formal cancellation of Last Resort, and the cast of the show are still under deals at Sony Pictures TV, I hear Patrick is being released so he can join True Blood.

From Deadline -Sullivan Stapleton and Ryan Kwanten will play ex-cons who set fire to a nightclub, killing 15 people in Cut Snake, an Australian thriller to be produced by Matchbox Pictures. Also attached is Rachael Taylor, who will play the girlfriend of Kwanten’s character. Matchbox’s Tony Ayres, who was the series producer on the TV drama series The Slapand is an exec producer on the U.S. remake, will direct. The script by Blake Ayshford is inspired by a real-life incident in 1973 when Brisbane’s Whiskey Au Go Go nightclub fire was torched, killing 15 people. EOne will handle international sales and its Australian subsidiary eOne Hopscotch will release in Oz. Producer Trevor Blainey, who is co-producing with Michael McMahon, tells Deadline shooting will start in mid-2013 and they are in the latter stages of assembling the financing. The narrative follows Stapleton’s character as he gets out of jail and persuades Kwanten, who is about to get married to Taylor and is trying to go straight, to pull off a robbery. Stapleton is on a roll after starring in Gangster Squad, playing the lead in 300: Rise Of An Empire and the co-lead in Cinemax/Sky TV’s Strike Back. Stapleton is repped in Australia by United Management, Kwanten by RGM and Taylor by Marquee Management.
From CinemaBlend-Aussie actors Ryan Kwanten and Sullivan Stapleton have both garnered notice in the United States, the former for his pulse-raising role as the dopey but sexy Jason Stackhouse on True Blood, the latter as one of the dangerous Cody clan in the Oscar-nominated drama Animal Kingdom. Both have subsequently scored roles in hotly anticipated American movies. Kwanten will appear opposite Sylvester Stallone and Terry Crews in the John Herzfeld drama Reach Me, while Stapleton will co-star opposite Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin in Ruben Fleischer's Gangster Squad. But on their home turf, the two will be a force to be reckoned with, taking on the duel leads in the true-crime thriller Cut Snake
Australian slang-to refer to a person as a "cut snake" is to say that they are wild and crazy, without rationalism and are attacking anyone or anything around them.

Will Jason be an all-out Vampire killer next season or his ol' loveable lughead self?

Another interview with the legendary Anne Rice about Claudia's Story, also another gift idea for vamp lovers among us.
Andy: Claudia’s Story is a beautifully illustrated book and an unusual addition to the Vampire Chronicles. Can you reveal what inspired the project and how it came about?
Anne: Yen purchased the right to adapt the book as a graphic novel, and it was their idea to do it from Claudia’s point of view. I agreed to let them do this.
AJ: Are there any further illustrated Vampire Chronicles planned?
AR: I hope that all of the books will be graphic novels eventually. There is only one Yen. I hope they show interest in The Vampire Lestat and other titles later on.
AJ: You have had such a successful and varied career as a writer. What keeps you motivated and inspired?
AR: My mind never stops making stories and characters. I see books now that I want to write but cannot get to. I’m working on a new novel, but have plans for a novel after that, and after that. It’s “the never ending story” pouring out of my soul. I can’t claim any credit for this. It just happens.
AR: I’m working on a new novel, but can’t say much about it at this point. Then I want to return to the Songs of the Seraphim and Toby O’Dare, and do a third book in that series that is big and juicy and draws the whole series together in a consummate way.
AJ: Will we see any more cinematic Vampire Chronicles adaptations in the future?
AR: I hope so but working with Hollywood is soooo difficult. And with the Vampires in particular it is difficult because there are so many books. MORE

New Banshee trailer, the lead looks like a smaller version of Ray Stevenson, not a bad thing at all.
